South Central EMS, Inc. is a full emergency service organization,
providing Advanced and Basic Life Support Services. Our primary
9-1-1 response area includes Lower Paxton, East Hanover, and
West Hanover Townships, and the northern section of South
Hanover Township in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Our
primary response area increased in July, 2003, to include the
Boroughts of Middletown, Royalton, and Highspire. Emergency
coverage is provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Our service responds to approximately 6,000 calls per year
in these areas and the neighboring communities with a fleet
of fully equipped ambulances, that meet and exceed state and
federal requirements for ALS and BLS care including:
- Cardiac Monitoring
- Advanced Airway Management
- IV Therapy
- Drug Therapy
- Oxygen Administration
- Treatment of Shock
- Neonatal Care

Ambulances are staffed by state and/or nationally certified
Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics, and Health Professionals.
Providers are required to keep current the following licenses
and certifications:
- PA Emergency Medical Technician, PA Emergency Medical
Technician - Paramedic, or PA Health Professional
- Basic or Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Emergency Vehicle Operators Course
- USFA Hazardous Material Recognition and Identification
- State required Continuing Education Courses
Emergency units are dispatched by a County run 9-1-1
Dispatch system, and respond from one of three stations. The
station in Lower Paxton Township is the original station built
in 1975 and is located at 5531 Poplar Street. The second
station, which also houses the Administrative Offices and the
Communications Center, is located at 8065 Allentown Boulevard,
in West Hanover Township. A third station is located in
the Borough of Middletown, at the old water works building on
Mill Street.
